Nuevo León.- A strong fire at the Cadereyta refineryin Nuevo León, was recorded on Saturday, June 26, 2022, causing alarm among the nearby population and the mobilization of emergency services.
According to the first reports, images began to be disseminated on social networks where a column of black smoke at the Cadereyta refinery. Subsequently, Civil Protection and Firefighters of Nuevo León They confirmed the incident, but Pemex did not.
“A fire is reported inside the Pemex Cadereyta Refinery, at the moment we do not have official information, we do not know what it is, @Pemex has an excellent internal fire brigade, we remain on the sidelines and in coordination with @PC_NuevoLeon,” he said. the operational director of the Nuevo León Fire Department, Alejandro Zúñiga.
Apparently the fire was caused by a failure in the heater of a hydrodesulfurizerwhich generated a large column of smoke that was visible from the road to Reynosa and caused alarm among the population near the area.
Though Pemex has not provided official information about the incident, Civil Protection assured that the fire was controlled in a timely manner and fortunately no injuries or deaths were reported.

The Cadereyta refinery is considered one of the most important of Pemex at the national level, as it is responsible for supplying fuel to the states of Nuevo León, Coahuila and Chihuahua, and partially to Durango, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas.
