Finnish skier Yoni Mäki on Match TV commented on the skirmish with Russian Alexander Bolshunov after finishing the relay at the World Cup in Lahti, Finland.
Myaki said that at the finish line Bolshunov tried to overtake him at the point where it was impossible. He called the Russian’s behavior unprofessional and complained that he did not apologize for his act. “I did everything right. I was ahead and chose the optimal trajectory, ”the athlete summed up.
At the finish line, Myaki cut Bolshunov, as a result of which the Russian pushed the Finn and hit him with a stick. After the finish, Bolshunov knocked the opponent down. Due to the unsportsmanlike behavior of Bolshunov, Evgeny Belov, Denis Spitsov and Alexei Chervotkin were deprived of bronze medals in the relay.
Instead, the second Russian team won the bronze, finishing fourth. The winners of the race were the Norwegian team. Finnish skiers won silver.
