Over the The Game Awards which were held last night, between 9 and 10 December, SQUARE ENIX has finally announced the release date also on PC of the highly anticipated FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE (here our review of the console version). The game will be released at least initially only on the Epic Games Store, and the Japanese publisher has also announced what the minimum and recommended requirements will be to run the game on PC: given the rather pumped graphics sector, it is therefore not surprising that the requirements hardware, or at least those recommended, are definitely higher than average at least on the GPU front.
SQUARE ENIX has released an image in which, unfortunately, the requirements are illustrated but not as clearly as we would have expected, and they are as follows.
Minimum requirements
- Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit (version 2004 or later)
- Processor: Intel Core i5-3330 or AMD FX-8350
- RAM memory: 8GB
- Disk storage space: 100 GB
- DirectX: Version 12 or later
- Video Card: GeForce GTX 780 or Radeon RX 480 (at least 3GB of VRAM)
Recommended requirements
- Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit (version 2004 or later)
- Processor: Intel Core i7-3770 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100
- RAM memory: 12GB
- Disk storage space: 100 GB
- DirectX: Version 12 or later
- Video Card: GeForce GTX 1080 or Radeon RX 5700 (at least 8GB of VRAM)
The company was not very clear on the recommended requirements, because it also specified that these are the hardware components needed to run FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE at a resolution of at least 2560 × 1440, i.e. a 2K resolution, superior to the Full HD that many monitors are equipped with, and the framerate is not specified: so, the requirements for running the title at 60 FPS at a resolution of 1920 × 1080 should be significantly lower than those mentioned above. It seems that the game is not particularly demanding at the CPU level, in fact it requires processors from several generations ago, even dating back to almost ten years ago: it is instead on the GPU side that things get hot and to get the most out of the city of Midgar it will be necessary to have a more than performing video card.
