Square Enix has finally announced the second phase of the Final Fantasy VII Remake project, even if it can no longer be called a remake.
Officially revealed as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, it is slated to launch in the Winter of 2023 as a PS5 exclusive. The first crunch to the title was possible to give it during the celebrations for the 25 years of Final Fantasy VII last Thursday. As stated by Yoshinori Kitase, the plans are to create a trilogy of this Remake, without however revealing which will be the third title that will complete it.
The small excerpt of gameplay seen during the event shows Cloud Strife, Zack Fire and Sephirot. Aerith’s narrative voice can also be heard, referencing key events that occurred in the PS1 version of the game.
Furthermore, during the event, there were further surprise announcements, for example the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade also on Steam, and its compatibility with Steam Deck.
Last but not least, Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core was announced for the end of 2022 for the latest generation consoles and for PC. Sony is also remastering this game, originally released for PSP only.
