An eventuality remake Of Final Fantasy 6 would require double the time of FF7: producer Yoshinori Kitase declared this during a long interview which also involved the director of Rebirth, Naoki Hamaguchi.
According to Kitase, Getting to the realization of Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth took about ten yearsand therefore suspects that a remake of Final Fantasy VI could double that timescale due to the larger world and the many characters present.
The Japanese producer stressed that there are many people at Square Enix who I'm dying to work on a similar projectbut for the moment he cannot answer affirmatively regarding the possibility that a remake of Final Fantasy VI will actually be developed.
Alternative solutions?
Since they were reported on social media, Yoshinori Kitase's words have obviously sparked a heated debate among the many fans of Final Fantasy and of the sixth episode of the series in particular, who have hypothesized possible alternative solutions for a remake.
Given that the producer indicated those times while thinking of a product technically equivalent to the one created for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the idea that many have suggested is that of opt for an HD-2D a la Octopath Travelerwhich would make the job much easier.
What do you think? Would it be worth remaking Final Fantasy 6 using this approach? Or is it better to wait even several years to get something similar to the current remakes?
