Final Fantasy 16 recorded a new peak of users connected at the same time over the past weekend, surpassing the numbers of Final Fantasy 7 RemakeNieR: Automata and other games previously published by Square Enix on Valve’s platform.
Specifically, the game has hit the roof of 27,508 concurrent users at 16:00 yesterday. For comparison, these numbers are higher than the records of NieR: Automata (23,908 users), Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX (11,152) and Final Fantasy 7 Remake (13,803). The latter actually had lower numbers, being self-sabotaged in some ways by Square Enix’s choice to publish it on Steam with a significant delay compared to the Epic Games Store and the unappealing price of 79.99 euros, considered out of line by many users considering today’s standards. Fortunately, for Final Fantasy 16, the Japanese company has opted for a more reasonable price of 49.99 euros for the basic version and 69.99 euros for the version that includes the two post-launch expansions.
Final Fantasy 15’s Numbers Remain Higher
The numbers for Final Fantasy 16 are quite good, especially considering the delay compared to the PS5 version and when compared to other games published by the Japanese publisher, even if it failed to beat the records of Final Fantasy 15 (29,498) and NieR: Replicant (28,684), not to mention the unrivaled Final Fantasy 14 with its over 95,000 concurrent users at the launch of the Endwalker expansion at the end of 2021.
Interestingly, Final Fantasy 16’s record was set at the same time that Steam set an impressive new record for concurrent active users, surpassing the 38 million user mark.
