Olympic medalist and two-time world figure skating champion Evgenia Medvedeva returned to the group of coach Eteri Tutberidze. Several sources initially reported this on September 16. “RIA News”, later the information was confirmed by the deputy head of the Khrustalny department of the Sambo-70 sports and education center Eduard Aksenov.
In turn, the director of “Sambo-70” Renat Laishev said that the athlete had already held the first training session in Tutberidze’s group.
The skater herself said on Channel One that her previous coach, Canadian specialist Brian Orser, understood her desire to work with a Russian specialist with understanding.
“I’m doing well with Tutberidze. We met and talked. We started work today. Let’s see, ”added Medvedeva.
Tutberidze has already posted a photo with Medvedeva on her Instagram, writes “Sport-Express”… “Without loud promises. We are just working, ”she signed the picture, adding the hashtags“ takbyvaet ”and“ return ”.
As RIA Novosti notes, due to the lack of transport links between Russia and Canada, Medvedeva has been training in Moscow on the CSKA ice since July, she was assisted by the Honored Coach of Russia Tatyana Tarasova. At the same time, Orser continued to participate in the training of his ward via video communication.
Medvedeva left Tutberidze in May 2018. After that she moved to Canada, where she started working with Orser. Later it became known that the reason for the skater’s departure was her conflict with the coach. Medvedeva later said that she changed her coach out of a desire to show herself more. Tutberidze, in turn, talked about the athlete’s dissatisfaction with the fact that at the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang she “did not hold” Alina Zagitova in juniors, as a result of which she won gold, and Medvedeva got silver.
