Fighting on the border between Israel and Lebanon killed two Israeli soldiers this Sunday (6), while another was “seriously injured” in the same incident, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said this Monday (7) in a statement.
The first victim was identified as 25-year-old Sergeant Etay Azulay, a member of the elite combat mobility unit 5515. According to an initial investigation, he was hit by a mortar.
Two other soldiers were seriously injured in the incident in which Azulay was killed, the IDF said without elaborating.
Shortly thereafter, Israeli forces confirmed that reserve officer Aviv Magen, 43 (also a member of the elite combat mobility unit 5515) succumbed to his injuries.
This Sunday, more than 120 projectiles fired by Hezbollah crossed from Lebanon into Israeli territory, according to the IDF, which confirmed that its fighter jets hit points in southern Lebanon and the east of the Bekaa Valley, in addition to Beirut.
The attacks in Beirut targeted “intelligence collection facilities, command centers,” weapons warehouses and other infrastructure.
