Belgorod – The Russian region of Belgorod on the border with Ukraine is under fire, according to Russian sources: According to the Russian news agency Tass, a woman was killed and her daughter wounded. The incidents happened exactly one year after the start of the Ukraine war.

“The village of Borisovka in the Volokonovsky district came under fire,” wrote the governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, on his Telegram channel. “A projectile hit a private home.” A woman born in 1951 was killed and her daughter wounded. The daughter had received medical care on site. According to the governor, another private house was completely destroyed in the shelling, but no one was in the building at the time. Two other houses were damaged.
Shortly before that, a Russian military plane crashed in the Belgorod border region on Thursday. Gladkow had also announced this on his Telegram channel. According to reports, it is a SU-25 fighter jet.
Russian fighter jet crash, pilot dies
“A plane from the Ministry of Defense crashed in Valuyki district,” the governor said. The machine crashed on the outskirts of a village and burst into flames. A team is on site to investigate the incident, as are civil protection agency employees, Gladkow wrote. The state news agency interfax according to the Ministry of Defense announced that the pilot died.
The fighter jet was reportedly returning from a mission. According to initial findings, there was a technical reason for the crash. Russia also flies combat missions in the war zone in Ukraine from the region.
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov himself is currently in the hospital. According to the news portal Nexta he was admitted with food poisoning.
