Qatar, in the men's category, and Morocco, in the women's category, will each receive five consecutive editions of the under-17 soccer world cup between 2025 and 2029, the FIFA Council decided this Thursday.
It had been announced in December that the youth tournament would go from biannual to annual starting in 2025, at the same time that it will increase from 24 to 48 teams in the men's category and from 16 to 24 in the women's category.
LaFIFA has opted for a fixed venue for five years to “use the existing infrastructure in the interest of the effectiveness and durability of the tournaments,” it said in a statement.
The choice of Qatar and Morocco shows the good positioning of both countries before FIFA.
The first received the 2022 men's World Cup and Morocco will be one of the three hosts of the centenary edition in 2030, along with Spain and Portugal, in addition to the first three matches in South America.
Qatar has organized the Club World Cup twice (2019 and 2020) and Morocco the 2013, 2014 and 2022 editions, in addition to the Africa Cup in 2025.
