In recent days, several new news have been leaked regarding the new installment of FIFA, a video game from the EA Sports company. And it is that they have accustomed us to the fact that, every year, they bring us an updated version of the famous soccer game par excellence with new teams, uniforms, players and of course new features.
The inclusion of women’s teams within the game first came in 2015 with the release of FIFA 16 which offered the public the chance to play 12 women’s national teams for the first time, including the United States, Mexico and France.
The first year was a complete success, since according to several sources, the United States women’s team ranked 23rd among the most used teams in the entire game, for which, for the following years, the women’s teams remained within the play.
However, far from growing, the game fell into a major stagnation by adding and removing a couple of teams each year without offering new features or modes where women’s soccer could be played, the biggest novelty being the possibility of recreating the World Cup France 2019 for FIFA 19.
7 editions later and with a sector of the public asking for it for years, everything seems to indicate that EA Sports will finally take a step forward and add for the first time the option of using women’s clubs from various leagues in the world, being the NWSL of the United States United, the Women’s Super League of England, Division 1 of France and the Frauen-Bundesliga of Germany the four candidates at the moment.
Without a doubt, this would be a very important advance for the franchise in the face of its growth with women’s soccer and perhaps it is the beginning of what could be another expansion for women in the video game.
FIFA 23 will be released on the market in the fall of 2022 as they usually do every year and with the following months offering news and updates on it.
