In a car market that saw a slight growth in July, with 125,150 registered cars and an increase of 4.33% compared to the same period last year, there is a narrowing of the differences in the ranking of the best-selling brands. According to the data shared by DataForce on sales in the month just ended, Fiat loses ground, with a -27.07% equivalent to approximately 4,000 fewer registrations compared to the same period in 2023, with Toyota instead growing exponentially, with a +144.43% and 5,800 more cars.
Toyota Sales Rise, Fiat Struggles
July therefore ends with only 800 units difference between Fiat and Toyota. In third place also increases Dacia (+36.11%), only 100 units behind the Japanese brand. Fourth is Volkswagen, which however fails to repeat the result of the previous July (-2.1%). Renault is placed fifth (+28.96%) which, thanks to last month’s result, climbs back up the cumulative annual ranking to the same fifth position. In the supporting positions, Peugeot (+14.79%), Audi (+4.71%), Jeep (+3.59%), BMW (+9.35%) and Ford (-7.28%). Noteworthy is the positive performance of Kia (+22.54%), Opel (+42.72%) and MG (+35.34%). Among the most disappointing results, Nissan (-36.09%), Alfa Romeo (-25.49%), DR (-40.52%) and Mini (-55.6%).
Data for power supply
Analyzing the data provided by DataForce, as regards the types of power supply, after the boom in June of electric vehicles due to the push of incentives, BEVs closed in July with a +0.88%, with only 36 additional units. Double-digit growth instead for full hybrids at +56.18%, with 5,265 additional registrations, which bring the balance of the seventh month of the year to 14,637 units and a monthly market share of 11.7%. LPG vehicles also improved, with 14,191 new registrations (+21.29%, for 2,491 more units). Petrol cars (including mild hybrids) are growing: 4.48%, while diesel cars are decreasing (-17.01%). The balance of plug-in hybrids is still negative (-9.55%) which not even with the ecobonus have managed to recover. PHEVs fell to 3.88% of market share in July and have an even lower cumulative share, even lower than that of electric vehicles.
