Restyling time also for Fiat 500X. The crossover version of the Cinquino is ready for a facelift that will bring some innovations, albeit minimal, to the range of the high-wheel variant of the famous Italian model. In fact, the first spy photos of some prototypes engaged in road tests have arrived, showing some cars with reduced coverage. The major news in fact, beyond some stylistic tweaks, they should affect the range of engines that will be made available on the market.
The spy photos released by Gabetz SpyUnit show forklifts on the roads near Melfi, forklifts that, as mentioned, do not anticipate the new generation but another restyling that will extend the life of the Fiat 500X as we know it today. The main differences compared to the current version should concern the optical groups, with a solution similar to the Dolce Vita Launch Edition. On the front, the thin grille remains covered, which until now also included the emblem of the Italian brand. The letter badge that debuted on the Tipo and on the electric 500, with two chrome mustaches on either side of the Fiat logo, could be placed in place of the traditional shield. The new logo of the Turin carmaker will also dominate the back, just below the rear window. The renewed offering will also be complemented by new interior options, with new materials, upholstery and colors as well as improved connectivity characteristics.
The range of engines should instead include some solutions similar to those adopted by the new Jeep Renegade, with which the Fiat 500X shares the platform. We therefore speak of T5 four-cylinder “FireFly” engines from 1.5 liters that will offer maximum powers of 130 and 160. hp. This new engine, with MHEV technology, will replace the old 120 and 150hp 1.0 T3 and 1.3 T4 engines by adding a little extra power and maximum torque. These solutions will be combined with manual and automatic transmission, with different types of traction. The restyling of the Fiat 500X should arrive on the market in the spring of 2022.
