Feyenoord has won 5-0 in its own Kuip against the Swedish IF Elfsborg. The team from Rotterdam thus provided themselves with a good starting position to qualify for the group stage of the Conference League. Vitesse is trying to qualify for the same tournament: the Arnhem team saw their first game against Belgian Anderlecht end in 3-3.
The key man on the Feyenoord side was winger Luis Sinisterra. He cheered the audience three times. His companion in the vanguard Alireza Jahanbakhsh made the second Feyenoord goal. Within the hour, the score was 5-0 at the hands of Bryan Linssen. Elfsborg then had to go through a red card with ten players. The same was true for Feyenoord, where goalkeeper Justin Bijlow was sent off.
The other Dutch team competing for the Conference League is Vitesse. The Arnhemmers quickly faced a disadvantage in Brussels. That was canceled out by a beautiful goal from right defender Eli Dasa. Then Anderlecht took the lead again. In the second half, Vitesse showed resilience through hits from Nikolai Frederiksen and substitute Oussamma Tannane. Yet the win did not go to Arnhem, in the final phase Yari Verschaeren made the equalizer. Anderlecht could have won after that, but missed a penalty in the last minutes.
