Festivals|A new festival will be held at the Töölö football stadium this weekend at the same time as another big festival is being held next door. Event organizer Kalle Keskinen’s expectations are high, even though the company has been in trouble in recent years.
The summary is made by artificial intelligence and checked by a human.
Helsinki City Festival takes place at the Töölö football stadium. At the same time, the Sideways festival is organized in the ice hall in Helsinki.
Ticket sales have accelerated since the end of the week and expectations are high, says promoter Kalle Keskinen.
According to him, the arrangements have gone smoothly and the festival will also be organized next summer.
Loud’s CEO of Live Kalle Keskinen says that coffee and energy drink have been consumed in the morning. Friday is the opening day of the new Helsinki City Festival, and the festival is organized by the company managed by Keskinen. So you have to hurry.
Although the festival is a continuation of the Radio Nova festival organized last summer at the same time in Suvilahti, according to Keskinen, the continuation of the festival in Suvilahti was not successful this year.
That’s why the Töölö football stadium, or Bolt arena, was chosen as this year’s festival milieu.
Regardless of the location, expectations are high. Keskine thinks that Friday’s tickets might still be sold out. According to him, last year’s Suvilahti sales have already been exceeded.
“At the moment, it’s a very positive situation, even though we’re humble, of course.”
By Friday morning, according to Keskinen, almost 15,000 tickets have been sold for Friday and “twelve thousand” for Saturday as well. Ticket sales have accelerated since the end of the week.
Friday Nylon Beat, which went wild at the turn of the millennium, will be the highlight of the festival. The band will make a comeback there for one gig.
“Nostalgia is on the rise,” says Keskinen.
Performers come to the festival both from Finland and abroad. According to Keskinen, the arrangements have gone smoothly and without significant cancellations.
“A couple of months ago, one foreign artist canceled. A better and more expensive one was immediately replaced.”
Center nor is it a concern in terms of festival arrangements that the Sideways festival will also take place this weekend right next to the Töölö football stadium in the Helsinki Ice Hall.
According to him, the arrangements have been made together with the organizers of the Sideways festival so that, for example, the stages are not built opposite each other.
“I think there won’t be any problems,” he says.
Central Helsinki City Festival will also take place next summer.
“Of course we will continue. The artist level will be raised.”
The direction of the future plans is therefore upward, even though the road of Loud’n Live, led by Keskinen, has not been without potholes during the past year. Company got into corporate restructuring at the beginning of this year after the company filed for bankruptcy three times during 2023. According to the corporate restructuring application, the company has debts of 4.8 million euros.
This festival summer has already been busy for Keskinne. Last weekend, Loud’n Live piloted the Saaristo festival in Kaarina.
Before the Helsinki City Festival, Keskinen’s pace slows down so much that he takes an hour nap. Then we go again.
