Scotland Yard has put an end to a mystery that lasted almost 30 years. It was in fact found in London Ferrari Testarossa 512M stolen in 1995 from Gerhard Berger during the Imola Grand Prix. The supercar had been stolen from the Scuderia di Maranello driver during the race weekend, together with a 355B which instead belonged to Jean Alesi. The theft made all the newspaperswith the investigations however not leading to a concrete lead until a few weeks ago.
Testarossa found
There London police has in fact received a report from Ferrari itself which had requested some in-depth checks on a car purchased by a US customer through a British broker in 2023. As reported by Il Resto del Carlino, the Testarossa 512M was then found to be stolen and further investigations have brought to light the illustrious owner.
The authorities then reconstructed the events that took the Cavallino supercar away from the radar for all these years. Berger's Ferrari, after being stolen, she had been sent to Japan and then arrived in Great Britain last year.
Theft
Berger's Ferrari and Alesi's were stolen from the hotel in which the drivers were staying overnight during the race weekend, which also ended in second and third place behind Damon Hill's Williams. The Testarossa it was located in the outdoor parking lot of the structure while Alesi's 355 was stolen from inside the garage.
