This is the new RM UP-01 Ferrari, the new ultra-thin watch born from the collaboration between the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer and the car manufacturer from Maranello. THE numbers linked to this watch branched by the Prancing Horse itself speak for themselves: thickness of only 1.75 mm, capacity to withstand accelerations of over 5,000 g, weight of 2.82 grams and power reserve of 45 hours. In short, a watch that perfectly embodies centuries-old know-how and innovation, two cornerstones of the Ferrari DNA.
“For such a project, it was necessary to put aside all the knowledge accumulated over years of practice and every possible standard of watchmaking. – explained Julien Boillat, Technical Director for Richard Mille’s cashiers – This is exactly what we have done during our collaboration with Audemars Piguet Le Locle laboratories. Eliminate those last tenths of a millimeter of thickness it was an extremely demanding and long process “. Ferrari wanted to clarify that it is not an exhibition object, but a watch in which each component has been designed for everyday use: the fact remains that we are dealing with a truly exclusive timepiece, considering that the RM UP series -01 Ferrari will be composed by itself 150 limited edition pieces and that the narrow tolerance parameters and the extreme thinness of each component required a particularly meticulous and verifiable attention at every stage of processing.
