Ferrari continues on its path towards carbon neutrality by 2030, thanks to the installation of a new 1 MW solid oxide fuel cell plant at the Maranello plants.
Built by Bloom Energy and installed in recent days, the plant supplies 5% of the energy needed for the company’s production activities, while reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
Compared to 1 MW produced by CHP (Combined Heat and Power) cogeneration systems, the gas requirement of the fuel cell system is in fact about 20% lower with significant energy savings.

The innovative technology adopted offers, in addition to high efficiency, flexibility in the choice of energy sources, which feed the plant without resorting to combustion: hydrogen, natural gas, biomethane or a combination thereof.
Added to this is the reduction, compared to equivalent systems, of over 99% of the pollution that causes the formation of smog and particulate matter.
Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari, said: “Ferrari is more than ever focused on becoming carbon neutral by 2030, through the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and a scientific approach that are part of our DNA. We are excited to collaborate with Bloom Energy, given the strong common commitment to a decarbonization process, and proud that their first project in Europe has been carried out with us ”.
