At the end of qualifying for the Qatar Grand Prix, which ended in thirteenth position, Charles Leclerc he had not been able to give an explanation of the gap suffered by his teammate Carlos Sainz. The Ferrari SF21 was thus placed under the magnifying glass of the Maranello engineers, to verify that the car had no problems whatsoever. The in-depth investigations revealed damage to the chassis, probably generated by an overly aggressive approach on the curbs of the Losail circuit, which caused more than a headache for riders and teams. Hence the decision to opt for the replacement of the body of the single-seater, to be operated within the time limits set by the regulations, to prevent the young and talented Ferrari driver from starting from the pits.
Leclerc can be proud of the great work done by the mechanics of the Red, because the car was prepared in record time and is already ready in pit 16, ready to face the comeback starting from the seventh row of the starting grid of the race.
