Small turnaround in Ferrari. The tests announced yesterday afternoon at Fiorano will be held with a different car than the one predetermined. The SF21 in fact remained in the pits, in its place there SF71H of 2018. The reason is that Ferrari was not sure they could use the 2021 car in these tests.
To avoid running into any problems with the FIA, which evidently did not make it clear which cars can be used in private tests in this new generation of cars (until last year they were single-seaters from at least two years earlier, but confirm the rule here year would make little sense, given that we are talking about totally different cars), Ferrari will send the SF71H to the track. If the plans do not change further, Charles Leclerc should be there tomorrow and Carlos Sainz on Thursday.
This is the press release from the Maranello team: “The test program that Scuderia Ferrari was to carry out starting today on the Fiorano track was changed this morning. Waiting to receive an update from the FIA on how the definition of “Test Previous Cars” will be applied in 2022, which establishes which car can be used in this type of test – it was decided in the session that a 2018 SF71H will be used The detailed program will be announced later“.
