Home driver Luca Ludwig (MERTEL Motorsport) took victory in the Pirelli Trophy, while in the Shell Cup success went to Ernst Kirchmayr (Kessel Racing) with Henry Hassid (Kessel Racing) becoming champion thanks to today’s third place, the ninth podium of an extraordinary year.
Claus Zibrandtsen (Formula Racing) is ever closer to the title, having won the Trofeo Pirelli Am, while in the Coppa Shell Am he is joined, with three races still to go before the World Finals in Imola, by the Greek Zois Skrimpias (Ineco Reparto Corse RAM), who on the German circuit took the seventh and decisive victory of his debut season in the Prancing Horse’s single-make series.
In the Pirelli 488 Trophy, victory for the expert Tommy Lindroth (Gohm Motorsport – Baron Racing Team).
Pirelli Trophy
Luca Ludwig used his knowledge of his home circuit to take a brilliant win in the first of the two races of the weekend, after pole position, leading the race throughout.
Behind the German driver is the leader of the general classification Giacomo Altoé (Emil Frey Racing), who also set the best time of 1’58”397, while the third step of the podium is taken by the American Dylan Medler (Pellin Racing).
Claus Zibrandtsen’s winning streak in the Trofeo Pirelli Am continues. The Dane takes his sixth consecutive victory, with the additional point for his best lap time, thanks to his decisive overtaking of Andrew Morrow (Charles Hurst).
The British driver also had to give up second place during an exciting final lap, faced with a winning attack by Hendrik Viol (Scuderia Praha Racing), who made an excellent comeback from sixth place in his class on the starting grid.
Shell Cup
With a decisive move at the first corner, Ernst Kirchmayr took the lead of the race and did not relinquish it until the checkered flag, where he celebrated his first win of the season.
Joining him on the podium are Andreas Ritzi (CDP – D&C Racing) and Henry Hassid. For the Frenchman, who started from pole position with a time of 1’59”935, the third step of the podium – ninth of the season with four victories so far – means the mathematical certainty of the class title.
Hassid, who today staged a spectacular comeback after being penalised with a Drive Through for incorrect alignment at the start, also added an extra point to his triumphant day for the fastest lap in the race of 2’00”678.
