Conversion kits are seen every day more and more: small cars and family cars are thus transformed into dream cars, while maintaining most of the basic characteristics. However, there are some models that lend themselves more to these processes than others. It is the example of the BMW Z3 which in its M coupé version proved to be the perfect basis for making a replica of the Ferrari 250 GT SWB. A noteworthy transformation for the small car of the German brand, with the 2000 model that has become ennobled by transforming itself into the classic of the Cavallino that is now on sale on eBay.
At a quick first glance, the replica of the Ferrari 250 GT SWB has several characteristics that share it with the legendary car of the Maranello car manufacturer but when you then carefully read the announcement on the e-commerce portal and scroll down to the asking price, you can see how the request only stops at 48,000 dollars and you don’t have the millions for which such a car is usually valued. The data on the power of the two models is also curious: since they are cars so distant in time from each other, the horsepower released by the V12 engine of the Ferrari do not exceed that much those of the 3.0-liter straight-six engine of the BMW Z3. which in the M54B30 configuration (on sale between 2000 and 2002) delivered 231 HP at 5900 rpm and 300 Nm at 3500 rpm. The Cavallino SWBs in fact reached a power of 280 HP, with the possibility of going from 0 to 100 km / h in 7-8 seconds, against the 6 seconds recorded by the Z3.
The Tribute Automotive kit, now no longer available on the specialized brand’s website, he was therefore able to choose the most appropriate model to apply this transformation. A speech that also applies to the interior of the car, with the dashboard in full 60s style that can also perfectly integrate the air conditioning. A little gem therefore, which will not have the V12 from Maranello but which is reminiscent of the Ferrari 250 GT SWB in several respects.
