“Breaking Myths” talks about how the president gained notoriety for attacking LGBTQIA+ people
Filmmaker Fernando Grostein Andrade released on Friday (16.Sep.2022) the documentary “Quebrando Mitos”. Film with a biographical bias addresses the president’s masculinity Jair Bolsonaro (PL), how the anti-LGBTQIA+ agenda helped him to come to power and the impact of this on the lives of Brazilians.
The feature was produced by Grostein and her boyfriend, singer Fernando Siqueira. Can be viewed online at official site of the documentary itself.
“Breaking Myths” was made in California (USA), where the couple says they live in “self-exile”. According to Grostein, “is a film that could not be made in Brazil”.
The filmmaker, who is the brother of presenter Luciano Huck, said he began receiving threats at the release of “Quebrando o Taboo” (2011) – a film about the war on drugs that inspired human rights profiles of the same name on social media.
“There were anonymous threats and others not so anonymous, from police officers and far-right fanatics.“, said. The film’s page was hacked, who replaced the site’s content with an image of a skull with a knife.
In addition to saying “unbroken” and “inedible”, Bolsonaro has already stated that “having a gay child is a lack of beating” and that he prefers that a son of his “die in an accident showing up with a mustachioed around”.
