Fencing Criticized by the International Fencing Association, Niko Vuorinen fenced the best Finnish investment ever: “A very wild day”

The Helsinki player lost in the extra time to his Hungarian training opponent in extra time.

Helsinki Niko Vuorinen made the history of Finnish fencing on Sunday night in Budapest.

Vuorinen sword-winning Finland’s best-ever World Cup. He was third in the Budapest Grand Prix.

In Kalva’s semi-finals, Vuorinen lost to the Hungarian David Nagylle extended by points 11–12. Swordsmen are training buddies.

On the way to the semi-finals, the South Korean Rio 2016 Olympic champion, among others, crashed Sangyoung Park. Vuorinen was at a loss, but turned the match from a losing position of 13-14 to 15-14.

In the quarterfinals, Vuorinen defeated another Hungarian Mate Kochin 15–6.

Third the place is significant: there were 248 swordsmen involved.

“Absolutely wild day. It got better and better all the time. In the semi-finals, the plan was to fool and stab Nagy in the knee, but I miscalculated the distance, ”says Vuorinen.

On the world list, Vuorinen rises to the top 16. This will allow him to start the rest of the race this season straight from the final stage.

“I am insanely pleased and happy with my performance. Of course, it digs that you have to be so scarce with bronze, ”says Vuorinen.

Vuorinen recently took a firm stance in HS on the Russian presidency of the International Fencing Federation FIE Ališer Usmanovin position.

Usmanov belongs to the president Vladimir Putin and has pushed himself into an impossible position in the leadership of the alliance.
