This Saturday the last day of the 32nd edition of the León National Book Fair was experienced through a varied program in attention to those who visited the workshops, artistic shows, exhibitions, editorial presentations, talks and its interesting literary offer.
On this last day, Mabel Lozano, Martín Solares, Andrés Acosta and Imanol Caneyada were some of the pens that were part of the editorial program with virtual and face-to-face activities; as well as artists and companies such as Bernardo Govea, Moebius Teatro Clown, Títeres Farfalla and STAGE of the ARTS-México, through the Festival of Monologues-Theater a single voice.
To close the 2021 program, a concert was held starring the Solar Quartet, a Leonese group made up of Adalberto Tovar, Luis Andrés Tovar Gómez, Paulo Sergio Tovar Gómez and Francisco Hidalgo, who focus their efforts on the composition and interpretation of original pieces framed in the language of contemporary jazz; in the company of the Leonese singer Tania Ugalde, who, from an early age, has worked in music as a singer in the genres: jazz, swing, bossa nova and funk mainly, in addition to pop and rock; His intention is to continue promoting these genres in his locality and surroundings, and in this way to be able to contribute to consolidating the jazz scene in the Bajío.
This creative union unleashed a sound journey with intense, energetic, nostalgic nuances, at times chaotic and, without a doubt, always unexpected; an experience that invited the public to move between the original music and the poetry of great authors such as Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Alaíde Foppa, Francisco de Terrazas and Nezahualcóyotl.
In addition, during the closing event, state and municipal authorities were present; Carlos María Flores Riveira, general director of the Cultural Institute of León, addressed the three programmatic axes highlighting the following:
“We are experiencing different social, political, economic and all kinds of crises, precisely the result of the fact that some of these three lines that I am pointing out to you are not fully complied with in different sectors of the population.
It is necessary for institutions, festivals, fairs, artistic manifestations to bring them to the fore, put them on the table, point them out, be protesting about it, put them on the table for dialogue, because without a doubt this is weaving a warp necessary to have better empathy and a sense of otherness, that sense that gives you enough sensitivity to be aware that the other exists and that the other coexists with you, that is fundamental. I think they are strategies that in the world of the arts, of creativity in general, must always be aware of it ”.
Plaza de Gallos was the venue that hosted this closing show, thus receiving its last visitors in this feast of the word that, for ten days, offered a diverse and extensive program also distributed in the Diego Rivera House of Culture, the Theater María Grever and the Museum of Leonese Identities.
