A group of 13 feminists, who have attended individually, have protested this monday together with the Senate against the VI anti-abortion Transatlantic Summitshouting “fascists out of the institutions”. They have gathered on Encarnación Street, near the Senate, against the event organized by Network for Valuesan international far-right organization, whose motto is “For freedom and the culture of life.”
In this sense, Marta, one of the participants in the concentration, has denounced in statements to the media that no one has done “anything” to prevent that the summit be held in the Upper House, “when in addition abortion is legal in Spain“In addition, he highlighted that there are measures that have to guarantee the right to abortion and “not support these types of acts and much less welcome them in a public institution like the Senate.”
Among the screams of the women, who protested before the event began, some were heard such as “Fascists out of the institutions“, “Free, safe and free abortion“,” “Out with anti-election from the Senate” and “Out with rosaries from our ovaries.”
In addition, feminists have carried signs that read messages such as “Abortion is sacred,” “Universal abortion right“, “Contraceptives so as not to abort!” and “They are my ovaries.”
The summit celebration was approved on July 17 at the Senate Table, where the PP has an absolute majority, but the PSOE also has representation. However, according to socialist sources, that point was not on the agenda, It was neither debated nor voted on.so they deny that their senators voted in favor.
