Felipe Martinez Carbonell does not label himself as a filmmaker, as he is an artist with the ability to tell fascinating stories, show the viewer other realities, other worlds and other circumstances, giving people the ability to escape their worlds and go to others. “That’s why sometimes when people ask me, what do I do? What is my profession? It’s hard for me to answer and yes, it would be easier for me to say that I’m a filmmaker, yes, I’m a filmmaker, but I’m more than that, I’m an artist”, he expressed in an interview for Debate.
Today, the film director and producer, originally from Rosario, ArgentinaHe sees himself as an artist who learns new things every day, who wants to keep growing, evolving, keep improvising his art and who wants to keep getting to know new artists, new worlds.
To be able to show those worlds, we have to know those worlds in some way, we have to experiment, I consider myself an artist in progress, in search of new worlds, so that later I can tell those new worlds, those new stories, in my new films. .
One of his most recent film projects was having directed, written and edited “Perseguidos”, a suspense, drama and horror short film, produced by Hemisferio Films. Gabriela is controlled by greed and ends up trapped in a situation in which she will not be able to get out.
Felipe Martínez shares with us that he wanted to capture it in “Persecuted”, it was show that money is just an instrument and that money is not the problem, but the human. “In the story we can see that money is in a bag all the time, what creates the problem is when the greed of the human being appears and kicks in, that’s when everything falls apart in the film, there is a dark entity that in the story it represents greed, which attracts the human being”.
Said short film contributed to the career of this Argentine artist, wanting to move forward, wanting to continue producing, writing and telling new stories, “the compliments we received, the comments, the festivals, people who saw the work and contacted me, The truth is that makes me very happy and gives me the energy to want to continue telling stories”.
For Felipe Martínez Carbonell, it was very important and significant that “Persecuted” has been selected at Screamfest Los Angeles 2022 and premiered at the legendary Chinese Theatre, located in the heart of Hollywooda popular neighborhood in Los Angeles, California, United States.
“I love the community that is in the festival, in addition to being the most important and largest horror festival in the United States, another detail that I love about the festival is that it happens in the Chinese Theater, in the center of Hollywood, I love it going there, being with the people, with the filmmakers, being able to be in contact with personalities from the world of horror, makes me very happy that my last two short films have been selected there and to be lucky enough to be present at the event”.

Felipe Martínez stated that the evolution that he has had since his first short film “Llantos” until “Perseguidos”not only goes to the technical, “without a doubt there is a technical advance, better cameras, my colleagues also grew along with me, so, you can see how our technique as artists, as a filmmaker, grew, improved, obviously a One of the things that I see in more detail when putting ‘Cries’ or ‘Persecuted’ is that there is much more meaning in each shot, much more meaning in the story itself, the script is much stronger, much more poetic, more loaded with social content and also with content to entertain people.
It is worth mentioning that his short films “Imaginary Portrait” and “Persecuted” were acquired by Cinedigm and will be available on Screambox TV, Bloody Disgusting TV, The Roku Channel, Pluto TV, Sling, Vizio, TCL Smart LED TV and Vimeo On Demand platforms.
