Culiacán, Sinaloa.- The actions of lawyer Sergio Avendaño Coronel, who is part of the Citizen Participation Committee of the State and Municipal Anticorruption System and who at the same time defends a corruption litigation, and will work on a reform of the State Anti-Corruption Law, it will be reviewed by the State Congressannounced Deputy Feliciano Castro Meléndrez, president of the Political Coordination Board, who described this situation as unacceptable.
The above in reference to Avendaño Coronel is the defense attorney for former Sedatu delegate in Sinaloa, Rosendo Camacho Luque, who is accused of alleged acts of corruption.
Given the various questions about the usefulness of this body to combat corruption and whether Sinaloa should continue in this inertia, he expressed the above when intervening in the presentation of the Fourth Annual Report of the Coordinating Committee of the State and Municipal Anticorruption System of the State of Sinaloa , through its president, Soledad Astrain Fraire.
After receiving this report in writing, which was also delivered to representatives of the Judicial and Executive powers, Congressman Feliciano Castro asked if the State and Municipal Anticorruption System has been useful in combating corruption, and clarified that this questioning is not with the courage to put salt in the wound.
To the previous questioning, he added that of whether Sinaloa should continue in the inertia or should be changed in this area.
Given that acts of corruption had recently become known, he asked if they were being combated.
How do we explain that in a warehouse there are medicines valued at 30 million pesos?, he asked and assured that this fact merits a thorough investigation.
Also questioned why the Citizen Participation Committee took refuge in the reforms to the Law of Public Works and Related Services with the same, which were approved by the 63rd Legislature.
Why this action, he asked, if what it is about is joining forces to combat corruption, a situation that has diminished the development of Sinaloa, and that has hit and offended not only the Constitution of Sinaloa, but the people.
“Why do these things happen?” he questioned again.
The president of the Political Coordination Board of the State Congress also questioned that a member of the Citizen Participation Committee acts at the same time as a lawyer for someone who is accused of corruption.
This, he stressed, is unacceptable. “You can’t go crazy and drink pinole at the same time.”
Given the above, he considered that it is time for political decisions to respond to the expressed will in 2018 at the national level and in 2021 at the state level, which is to combat corruption.
What is appropriate now, he suggested, is to take the debate to another dimension and not use fashionable speeches as in other times.
Referring to the annual report presented, he stated that the State Congress reserves the space to comply with the obligation to review it and take measures through the Transparency, Anticorruption and Citizen Participation Commission to carry out the analysis, and from there discuss it before plenary session and make decisions.
He announced that the participation of a member of the Citizen Participation Committee in the legal defense of a server accused of corruption will also be reviewed objectively and in accordance with the law.
Castro Meléndrez also announced that in the coming weeks Congress will issue the call to form the Selection Council that will select the new members of the Citizen Participation Committee.
