Feijóo affirms that the anti -skucios moratorium that has protected 58,000 families “has not benefited anyone”

The president of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has justified his non -decree Bus last Tuesday ensuring that “it was not about raising pensions, but of implementing policies against citizenship.” Among these measures that, according to the popular, negatively affect the population is the anti -skucios moratorium, of which he has assured that “he has not benefited anyone.” But the data says something else: according to a study by the Descanator, it is a measure that has avoided 25% of tenant’s releases that could have been executed throughout the state.

That means that more than 58,000 families were benefited by this measure during their first three years of application. According to data from this same entity, between 2008 and 2023, 735,560 judicial releases were carried out, which affected more than 1.8 million people. This means that 3.8% of the population has lost their usual housing.

The anti -skucios moratorium was promoted as part of the social shield at the beginning of the pandemic and was extended until December 31, 2024. Initially, the text suspended only the evictions derived from defaults or extinctions of rental contracts of vulnerable families. But in 2021 it was extended to those cases in which the tenants have continued to live in their homes despite not being able to pay or have an defeated contract.

In these cases, it was necessary to prove, in addition to the situation of vulnerability, that those affected had been inhabiting the property for more than a year or that they had minors or dependent people in charge. It is for the latter case that Feijóo brings out the occupations when it refers to the anti -dishasch moratorium. He has assured that it is a “harmful” norm that has “increased the phenomenon of inquiocupation.”

Feijóo has made this statement in an appearance without questions after having met in Barcelona with “a dozen entities that represent small owners, SMEs, tenants and tourism sector”, but without specifying which ones. The popular has assured that housing has become “a national crisis”, to a large extent “for the erratic policies of the government.”

For Feijóo, the moratorium has “facilitated the occupation and has caused 800,000 floors to be removed from the market, which are currently occupied. 40% of them, in Catalonia. ” But this is also a wrong fact. According to the Mossos d’Esquadra, 93% of the occupations that occurred in 2023 in Catalonia were in flats that were already empty, most of them owned by banks. So it is not correct for Feijóo to ensure that the Anti -Caucios moratorium has caused “the irresponsibility of removing 800,000 floors from the market.”

Likewise, the popular leader has assured that it is a “serious mistake” to have applied price regulation, since, as he said, the rental price has risen 400 euros on average. But, after the latest evaluations, in Catalonia – the first community to apply the standard – the income has dropped between 3 and 5%.

However, Feijóo has pointed out that he did not want to “host to continue facing owners and tenants “and has insisted on the idea that” the owners are not the enemy. ” In fact, he has loaded against the “caricaturization” of the owner, ensuring that most of them only have one floor, “who have paid with their savings.” On the other hand, the figures say something else: one third of the homes that are in the market in Spain belong to multipro -critical.

Likewise, Feijóo has assured that he understands the “frustration” of the tenants, especially of young people. Therefore, he announced that, soon, he will present to the Government a special housing plan, which has advanced some measures. Among them, the intention of creating a state guarantee guarantee fund that will support ICO credits the bond of a rental. It also raises “bonus 75% of rental income” to owners who decide to get the markets that have been unemployed for two years. And finally, he has advanced that he will create a non -payment insurance fund to owners who are rewarding children under 40.

“It is good to protect the occupies and ask the owners to put their home in the market in this climate of insecurity,” said the popular, who has affected the government to be “blocking” the anti -occupation law that has already been approved in the Senate. Thus, Sánchez has blamed that the owners do not put their homes in the market, which is why young people “continue to share floor at an age in which our generation was already signing a mortgage.”
