A resident of the English city of Paynton, Devon, discovered a malignant tumor in her breast while feeding her baby and thanks to this she was saved from a fatal disease. About it informs edition of The Mirror.
Amy Palmer, 30, discovered the lump while breastfeeding her five-month-old son Lenny. The Englishwoman went to the doctor to be examined.
At first, doctors told the patient that she had a blocked milk duct, but further tests confirmed the mother’s worst fears: she had breast cancer. She and her husband Colin burst into tears when they learned this diagnosis. Family and friends were also very worried about them.
Palmer underwent long-term treatments, including a lumpectomy, six courses of chemotherapy, and 18 courses of radiation therapy. As a result, she managed to defeat the disease. Now the Englishwoman is motivating other women to have regular breast examinations.
“It always seems that this will not happen to you, until it happens. It was a shock, ”she said.
Paynton stressed that breast cancer can start at any age. “I would like screening tests to be offered to all women over the age of 18. It can save many lives, ”she said. The Englishwoman said that now the disease seems to her a dream: she herself finds it difficult to believe that she went through this test.
Now Palmer appreciates life more and has made a list of desires that she wants to have time to fulfill before death. In particular, she plans to take part in the Disney princess race, skydive, take part in the London Marathon and travel to New York.
