The now ex swimmer talks about her new life after the farewell to competitive activity and her relationship with Giunta
After announcing her farewell to competitive activity, Federica Pellegrini came out of the closet by formalizing her relationship with her coach, Matteo Giunta. Interviewed by Corriere della Sera, the swimmer talked about her new life: “We are discovering this new way of living. In recent years we have never exchanged an affectionate gesture in public, we kept the roles separate, even if it was Pulcinella’s secret. Now we are getting used to it, the other night we took each other by the hand to go shopping and we said “what a strange stuff”“.
Has 1.5 million followers on Instagram, does he still enjoy social media?
“Yes, but I think the situation is getting a little out of hand. If we needed an identity document to register we would have solved 90% of the problems, bullying, body shaming. Hidden behind an account you can say anything – it’s not good“.
Does he have a list of things he’ll indulge in when he quits altogether?
“Yes, a vacation. And then I’ll have to learn English“.
And the TV? He said that Italia’s got talent was one of the best decisions he made.
“It helped me to know that I am also inclined to do other things, we swimmers are convinced that we only know how to swim“.
We talk about her for the Sanremo Festival.
“I have read, but I don’t know anything, from scratch at the Festival it seems a bit ambitious“.
Speaking of ambition: there are those who already see it as Undersecretary for Sport.
“Vezzali is the best in that role, she is very institutional. I am little inclined to compromise, I would ruin my life. But I’ll enter Giunta Coni, I’ll have a taste …“.
