Recognition was made through two ordinances published on Tuesday (Feb 13) in the Official Gazette of the Union
O Ministry of Integration and Regional Development summarily recognized the emergency conditions in Macapá, due to the rains that hit the capital of Amapá since the weekend and intensified in the early hours of Tuesday (13.Feb.2024).
The recognition was made through two ordinances signed by the national secretary of Protection and Civil Defense, Wolnei Wolff Barreiros, attesting to the emergency situation decreed by the city hall of Macapá (Ordinance 439) and by the government of Amapá (Ordinance 436) – this one relating to erosion of the riverbank of the Amazon River on the edge of Aturiá, in the south of the city.
The two acts are published in Official Diary of the Union. With recognition from the federal government, the state of Amapá and the municipality of Macapá can access resources to respond to emergency situations and humanitarian aid.
The government and city hall must still present work plans to the National Secretariat for Protection and Civil Defense to release the money. The published ordinances also allow you to request funds for relief and health care; social assistance and reconstruction of affected infrastructure.
According to an algorithmic forecast from Inmet (National Institute of Meteorology), for the period from February 13th to 21st, Amapá, as well as other areas in the North Region, will have an accumulation of rain greater than 50 liters of water per m².
