Expedition JansenWho will win which test, suffer the most hunger or make the meanest plans to vote others out? Reporter Dennis Jansen looks back weekly in the Expedition Jansen section Expedition Robinson in three themes of hunger, hero & heartache.
hunger
Recently I ate Kikil. The comedian Daniel Arends I had just interviewed recommended the Nasi Padang Komplit at Waroeng Padang Lapek, his favorite restaurant in The Hague. The Komplit, a collection of dishes, was delicious, except for the Kikil. Cow cartilage. That was a lot to swallow. I had to think about it when I saw the food test, one of the funniest parts of Robinson, and in particular the goat balls. taaaaaay. Also on the menu at the Robinsons: stomach walls of a cow, goat tongues and eyes. “This smells like death,” Yuki said. And Britte: ,,Just think about Babi Pangang.” Wonderful test. The gagging of brave Dyantha who was the only one to step forward. And René with two goat eyes on his plate: ,,I’ve never made such intensive eye contact with something I’m going to put in my mouth.” And shitty louse Robbert who pretended to be the schoolboy who looks at everything except the teacher so as not to get his turn. A little later – the inverted world – to give advice to René: “Come on, swallow!” What a lament. Were they so hungry?
Hero
Let’s talk about that food, because not everyone was pissed. Did you see Sylvana? No, that swinging on a rope wasn’t for her last week, but now she was swinging that goat’s eyeballs in like, gosh. What a boss! And what a wonderfully pouting loser René was. “I lose this on experience,” he sighed, while letting the goat’s eyes drip from his mouth. “I’ve never had two such balls in my mouth and apparently she did.” That wasn’t even a joke. Sure René, as if Sylvana scours Marktplaats every month, buys a goat, then slaughters it, pecks out the eyeballs and then swallows them nicely. “Well, he’s a bit right,” Sylvana laughed when I spoke to her about this. “Last year I swallowed a pig’s nose for an item from StukTV. So: close your nose, mind zero and he was gone. I have now also done.”
heartache
‘I have good news.’
“You get a second chance.”
“Your expedition isn’t over yet.”
‘Because in the deepest secrecy…’
Sorry, but I can no longer hear the comments of presenters Nicolette Kluiver and Kaj Gorgels. It is known and I have complained about it more than once: candidates who have been voted out on the Island Council are given another chance. That should really change (again) next year. Take tonight’s. Yuki has to leave. René has beautiful words (“I have come to love you a little”), there are tears and hugs. The editor sprinkles the scene with Safe Now (by Henry Jackman), a heartbreaking piece of music, but we viewers know: Yuki isn’t going home yet, maybe not for a long time. That science takes the drama out of it. is exciting Robinson so not for a while: it is time for the Amalgamation.
