In fact, after only a few days from the previous accident that occurred in Orio al Serio where a plane of the same company had landed with blown tires, a new serious technical accident occurred at the airport of Salento to Toasts. One of the engines of an airplane ready for take off direction Turin was in fact affected by a start of fire.
Ryanair plane technical fault: passengers evacuated safely
This morning, Thursday 3 October, a new, serious technical fault affected one of the aircraft of the Irish company Ryanair.
A strong flame to an aircraft occurred at the Salento airport in Brindisi upon departure for Turin. As reported by Puglia airportsthe fire started when the aircraft was already lined up at the head for take-off. The accident resulted the evacuation of passengers through the emergency slides.
The note goes on to report that “All operations were carried out with maximum safety for passengers and crew. The passengers are already at the airport where they are assisted by Aeroporti di Puglia staff“.
Work is currently underway to reopen the airport
The firefighters responded to the scene. I am momentarily takeoffs and landings at and from the airport were suspended as the necessary checks on the track and all the other safety measures required by the protocols are underway.
The company’s technicians are working to carry out the interventions within their competence and to resolve the technical fault that occurred. At the moment, a precise timetable for the restoration of the airport has not been provided.
The timely evacuation of passengers from the aircraft and the consequent rescue operations carried out by the staff in charge were able to demonstrate the effectiveness of the safety protocols promptly activated in the emergency situation.
