Formula E is already looking to the future and, on the occasion of the FIA World Motor Sport Council held today, announced the calendar for the new 2024/25 season, the one in which the Gen 3 Evo will debut. The new calendar touches well 17 races in 11 different locations that will host the electric world championship, even if unfortunately Italy will not be there.
The next championship will start at the beginning of December on the track in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as anticipated a few weeks ago. A date which, although it did not convince everyone, was chosen with the aim of avoiding a clash with the FIA Gala scheduled for the middle of the same month, where the governing body rewards all the winners of the various categories. Initially, the date of December 21st was also taken into consideration, but was then put aside as it was too close to the end-of-year holidays, which could also have created logistical problems for transport.
As has been the case for a few years now, towards mid-January of the new year we will fly to Mexico, where the second round will be held in the same facility where Formula 1 also races, albeit with a modified layout to meet the needs of electric cars. On the contrary, the double stage of Saudi Arabia in Diriyah has been postponed by a few weeks: not only the date has changed, now moved to mid-February, because the route will also be different compared to the one used in previous seasons, even if plans have not yet been finalized.

However, the fifth round of the world championship has not yet been announced, although, according to what Motorsport.com has learned, it should be a new event in Thailand, more precisely in the Chang Mai area. On April 12th we will return to the United States for the Miami stop, which is back on the calendar for the first time after hosting Formula E in the first season of the electric series. The race will take place at Homestead-Miami Speedway, which has hosted NASCAR and IMSA races, using the infield road course, although part of the oval could potentially be used as well.
“We think it’s a great circuit, suited to our style of racing. “The Miami name that comes with it, from a global TV audience, is a big draw, perhaps bigger than cities like Portland,” said the Formula CEO. And Jeff Dodds regarding the new stage in Miami. It will therefore not be a city race as initially hoped by the promoters of the electric series.
Both Munich and Tokyo will follow as double-header events, on May 3-4 and May 17-18 respectively. This means that we will not only race on Saturday, but also on Sunday. After a good debut in Shanghai a few weeks ago, Formula E will return to the Chinese city, where Formula 1 also races, to contest two races on May 31st and June 1st, before returning to Indonesia. The Asian country returns to the calendar after a year of absence, coinciding with the local elections which did not allow the race to take place: it is a key event for Formula E, which focuses heavily on these markets.

The season will end with two races in Berlin (12-13 July) and London (26-27 July), but there is a real possibility that the German stage could clash again with another race of the World Endurance Championship, as in 2024, which would represent a problem for drivers competing in both categories.
The calendar does not include a race in Italy: Misano was abandoned after just one year as the agreement was not renewed. It is important to keep in mind that Misano had entered the calendar after the sudden abandonment in Rome, positioning itself as a valid alternative to organize an ePrix in a short time. As explained last month, behind the scenes Formula E is working to bring the electric series back to the city in our country too, but an agreement has not yet been found.
“To stay within our DNA, three-quarters of our races will take place on built circuits or on street circuits. It’s a real mix. A lot of the feedback we receive from teams, manufacturers and fans concerns precisely the calendar continuity,” Dodds added.
The pre-season tests will take place from 4 to 7 November 2024, as usual, on the Valencia track where Formula E also has its own logistics hub.
