Ricardo Feller will make his debut in FIA Formula E with the ABT Cupra team during the Rookie Tests preceding the double event to be held next week in Berlin.
The Swiss, reigning Champion of the GT World Challenge Europe-Sprint Cup, is currently still involved in the SRO Motorsports Group series with the Audi of the Tresor Attempto Racing team and responded to the invitation of the ‘cousin’ brand of the Four Rings for the German test.
Feller will drive the #51 electric single-seater, replacing Nico Müller, who as we know will not take part in the Berlin e-Prix having given priority to the FIA WEC with Peugeot Sport, with which he will compete in the concurrent 6h of Spa-Francorchamps.
For the weekend’s races, Müller’s seat will be occupied by Kelvin Van Der Linde, Feller’s partner with Abt in the DTM.
“I immediately said yes when the team made me this proposal: it will definitely be a completely new and exciting experience”, says the Swiss, who with the team just achieved a podium in the first outing of the 2024 DTM in Oschersleben last weekend and will spend a day at the Kempten simulator to familiarize himself with the Berlin track and the car’s systems.
“I have followed the rise of the team closely and now I can’t wait to be part of it. I want to contribute to the development and if my times in Berlin are reasonably good, it will be even better.”
Team Principal and CEO, Thomas Biermaier, adds: “With Ricardo we have already experienced victories and many fantastic moments in the DTM, so he has more than deserved his journey into the electric world and we are all looking forward to seeing him in Formula E.”
“He is a great racing driver, he knows the team well and will certainly be able to support us perfectly in our test programme, but of course he should also have a lot of fun during the day in Berlin.”
