The exhibition was opened “Fauna of Mexico City” on the Gandhi Open Gallery of the bars of the Chapultepec Forest, 58 images that portray the capital’s urban fauna.
Species such as: the opossum, the burrowing owl, the magnificent hummingbird, the Xochimilco axolotl, the cacomixtle, the mountain rabbit, the carpenter bee and the Xochiquetzal butterfly, among others.
Exposition by the Mexican photographer Tamara Blazquez Haik, shows a drive for preservation promoted by various institutions responsible for caring for the environment.
“Are these wild neighbors made up of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and others, which they maintain, despite pollution and urbanization,” the author stressed.
“Ecological reservesforest areas, rivers, canals, rocky outcrops, sandbanks, ravines, hills of the megalopolis in which 2,254 different species coexist,” said General Director of Heritage, Francisco Martínez.
The objective is raise public awareness that the conservation of nature and biodiversity is not only the responsibility of the authorities and the scientific community, but of all of them, it is a joint effort.
Haik holds exhibitions, workshops in schools and educational talks to know the importance of all species in the life of the city.

The exposition will remain until July 10 at the Gandhi Open Gallery of the Rejas del Bosque de Chapultepec, located in front of the Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art on Paseo de la Reforma avenue.
