The usual test turned into a call for help in Vale do Anari, a city with just over 10,000 inhabitants in the interior of Rondônia. A 13-year-old girl wrote on the test: “Please help me my father beat my mother call me the police”. The request for help took place on November 9, and the day before yesterday the case had an outcome: the man was located by the police and arrested, according to police chief Celso André Kondageski, head of the Machadinho D’Oeste police station, 54 kilometers from Anari, but that also serves the neighboring city.
Soon after the girl filed the complaint in the test, the father, now detained, was called to give explanations to the Guardianship Council. “He scolded his children and kicked them out of the house,” Kondageski said. The case began to gain repercussions from that moment on, even before it won Brazil amplified by social networks, which tirelessly distributed the image of the test. “He will also answer for abandoning the house”, said the delegate.
The 13-year-old girl who complained of domestic violence has three other siblings. Two girls aged 16 and 14 and a younger boy aged eight. There was another baby, who died at the age of one, while the family was still living in Pará. It was this death that, according to police chief Kondageski, motivated the beginning of the attacks.
The 13-year-old girl’s mother, upon being taken to the police station, was quite physically and emotionally shaken, as said by the police chief. It took her two hours to admit the attacks. “She was afraid of the aggressor, she showed an emotional and monetary dependence on the man, she said that he didn’t miss anything for his children”, said the police chief.
Last Friday, the 3rd, after learning about the case, the Court ordered the man’s temporary imprisonment. He was located on his mother’s farm in the city of Vale do Anari. He was hiding in a bathroom at the back of the room.
how to report
Recently, the government of São Paulo passed a law that requires residential and commercial condominiums to report cases or signs of domestic violence against women, children, adolescents and the elderly. It is known that at least 15 other states, in addition to the Federal District, have created similar rules in recent years.
Specialists consulted for a report published by Estadão in September 2021 recommend that, when witnessing a situation of domestic violence, or even if there is any suspicion, the person should not interfere, but inform the police authorities. There are a number of channels through which these complaints can be made: Dial 100 (number for complaints from the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights) and Dial 180 (Central for Assistance to Women in Situations of Violence, for example.
The information is from the newspaper The State of São Paulo.
