FAS sent letters to sugar producers with recommendations to prevent price increases. More than 70 companies should receive such messages.
The Antimonopoly Service proposed to include information on prices in the trade policies of producers, as well as on the procedure for working with distributors: set a maximum margin for them, prohibit the resale of sugar purchased for retail trade, and also provide for the possibility of terminating the contract for violating these rules.
“Trade and marketing policy (TSB) is a public document that determines the procedure and conditions for the sale of the company’s products. We offer manufacturers to indicate in their TSB, which are posted on the official websites of organizations, the price of sugar sold in retail trade. Thus, the pricing process will be more transparent, ”the FAS press service confirmed to Izvestia.
The Ministry of Agriculture noted that in 2021, thanks to price agreements, as well as direct subsidies to producers, selling prices for sugar remained stable.
“In 2022, in order to prevent the growth of its cost, the Ministry of Agriculture, together with the Federal Antimonopoly Service, worked out recommendations for the trade policies of manufacturers in terms of setting marginal prices for retail sales and marginal markups for distributors,” the ministry said.
The Ministry of Agriculture also considers it necessary to develop appropriate recommendations for the trade policies of retailers.
