Al-Hosani said, in a statement published by the Emirates News Agency via “Twitter”, during this period, media and international organizations are circulating about the monitoring of the new mutant known as “Omicron”, and what we know so far is the monitoring of its first case at the global level on November 12, and it was confirmed. It was announced on November 26 as a “worrisome” mutant.
She added that there are large genetic mutations that may affect the characteristics of the virus and the speed of its spread more than previous mutations, based on the available preliminary information, which requires further research and investigation.
Al-Hosani explained, “The Ministry of Health and Community Protection announces the adoption of the dose for all groups of adults aged 18 years and over, for those vaccinated with the two basic doses of the Pfizer Bionic and Sputnik vaccine, 6 months after the second dose. This is in addition to the booster doses for those vaccinated. Sinopharm, which was previously announced.
He continued, “We advise everyone to ensure that the supportive doses are obtained on time and not to be delayed, especially the elderly and those with chronic diseases.”
Al-Hosani stressed that the community initiative to receive vaccination and the keenness of all individuals to take the supporting dose is an indication of their confidence in the national directives and the measures taken by the health sector.
