Sinaloa.- The assassination of Luis Enrique Ramírez Ramos arouses many emotions. The same causes anger, frustration, impotence, that a deep sadness to see leave the friend, that child, the great human being who loves animals and in particular the cats he adored.
And I speak of the human being, because of the journalist, the professional, everyone knows that part. His life and work will remain for eternity through his writings in print and digital media in the country. Nothing will erase his legacy.
He was an excellent human being, noble, playful. But when it came to work he gave himself completely, with absolute concentration.

Watching him write was a spectacle, rocking in his chair, attentive to the detail of each word, which was written with singular dexterity with a single finger. Yes, he did it with his index finger, but with a speed that seemed like twenty fingers working at the same time, moving back and forth on the keyboard.
Such was the dedication that he and his computer merged. And Luis Enrique stopped being Luis Enrique to become a storytelling machine or write your political column with such precision and sharpness that only he could do. His column moved governments, provoked urgent meetings in government offices and made more than one uncomfortable.
despite the fear
Luis Enrique was not an irrational brave man. Those of us who knew him and saw him on occasion immersed in his creative process know that on the contrary, there were very scary nights. It was worrying when he found out some information and even more so when he published it.
Yes, sometimes he was afraid, like all human beings who face a dangerous situation. And he would stop writing to drink water, breathe, analyze his information and, in the process, bite off his fingernails and his eyes would open wide, very expressive. And ironically she could break that fear with a joke or playful comment.
But Louis Henry he always wrote what he wanted, despite the fear. It never stopped. He found a way for fear not to overcome him. I think that over the years he and fear became allies, understood each other and one could not coexist without the other.
Sometimes the fear became strong and knocked him down, but he always found a way to prevail, take a deep breath and continue.
Today Luis Enrique is no longer here, his absence leaves a void. One thinks about what happened and yes, it also causes fear due to the boredom of living in a country where life costs little, they kill you for everything, for anything and for nothing.
That many colleagues also feel fear, but it is the same fear that Luis Enrique had at the time, and just like him, the Sinaloan journalist raffles life and moves on.
Here, in Sinaloa, it is difficult to practice journalism. It is not an imaginary issue, the threats are real, the attacks and murders like that of Luis or Javier Valdez, whose death anniversary is a few days away from his fifth birthday.
There is fear in the air, but more anger and sadness. But just like Luis Enrique, fear should not paralyze us and we must continue doing journalism for them, for those who have no voice today.
