Sadness for the farewell, at the age of 93, of Mario Pennacchia, an expert and well-documented journalist and sports essayist, a respectable person.
He commissioned me the first piece for the page on young people, “Come on guys!”, Which he proposed to publish to the then editor of Corriere dello Sport, Totò Ghirelli.
Then we became colleagues in “Il Giorno” by Gaetano Afeltra and friends, we went to dinner with Senator Antonio Landolfi, a director of ASRoma, and the then president of the Giallorossi club, Gaetano Anzalone.
A sympathizer of Lazio and a great expert in referees, he was the first journalist to anticipate the names of match officials in the “Gazzetta”, of which, for years, he directed the Roman editorial staff, valuing young editors.
Mario has published many books, dedicated to sport and its champions, such as: Gli Agnelli and Juventus (winner, in 1986, of the Bancarella Sport Award), Il Calcio in Italia, Lazio Patria Nostra, and Football Force One.
Dear Mario, may the earth be light to you!
