After a new presentation in the past few days, Ubisoft has announced a streaming event dedicated to Far Cry 6, where we got to see the gameplay of the Xbox Series X version.
Last week, during Gamescom 2021, we had the opportunity to take a further look at the new chapter of the series distributed by Ubisoft. Thanks to the trailer shown during the event on the occasion of the Opening Night Live, we were able to project ourselves in the figure of Anton Castillo, main villain of the game played by none other than Giancarlo Esposito.
Set on the fictional island of Yara, inspired by the Cuba of the real world, Far Cry 6 it was announced to be a stand alone game, with no connection to previous chapters in the franchise. This we can notice above all in inserting some mechanics initially not present in other games, such as cities: usually small, sparsely inhabited and often peaceful.
As we got to testify from Xbox Series X gameplay, in Far Cry 6 the enemies are all taking cover behind outposts or fortresses that will need to be conquered with different techniques that can range from silent killer kills or a full-scale assault.
It is still a question of a open-world and the features stated above are not new to this genre of games, but it is interesting to note how these have been brought to Far Cry 6. As already mentioned, the story missions are to be completed in single player. Will be present on multiplayer co-op, but only for side missions and in-world activities.
The inspiration in Cuba is also reflected in the guns in firearms, which appear to date back to the Cold War. A detail that will come in handy in the story is the ability to walk around keeping the gun down so as to attract less attention.
We remind you that the release of Far Cry 6 is scheduled for the next October 7, 2021 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PC and Google Stadia. Following the day-one, new content is expected to arrive, including a Season Pass which will re-introduce some beloved characters from past games to the game.
