There was a time when movies based on video games were total box office flops, but that recently changed with the adaptations of Resident Evil, Sonic and Pokémon. Uncharted has been the most recent video game franchise to receive its own feature film, and despite its mixed ratings, the film has been successful enough at the box office to warrant a sequel.
Nintendoevidently, is already preparing to bring its most important IPs to the big screen with the film of Super Mario this year, but what comes next for the Japanese company? We don’t know yet, but if fans want something, it’s a movie based on The Legend of Zelda. Or at least that’s what the results of a recent survey tell us.
According to a survey published by FandomSpotabout 2 thousand players voted for The Legend of Zelda as the main video game franchise they want to see adapted on the big screen. Here the complete results:
1.The Legend of Zelda
2.Grand Theft Auto
3. Horizon: Zero Dawn
4. God of War
5. Hollow Knight
6. Animal Crossing
7.Final Fantasy
8.Fallout
9. Super Mario
10. Red Dead Redemption
There are definitely several big names in the results, and curiously, some of them already have some type of production for TV or cinema ready, such as Fallout, Super Mario and possibly God of War.
Publisher’s note: I think it would be a bit difficult to adapt The Legend of Zelda to the cinema, but we have seen much more crazy things lately. Of course, the ideal would be for the big Hollywood studios to stop making video game movies, but given the success they’ve had, it sounds like a difficult thing to happen.
