Likewise, also in the section of offended women of the statistical information of the official website of the FGE, in the same month there were 160 complaints of intentional injuries against women in the entity.

Although it was since June 2012 when the Official Gazette of the Federation published the reform to article 343 bis of the Federal Penal Code, where family violence is classified as a crime, the Attorney General of the State of Sinaloa has statistics of complaints for this crime since the year 2013, when 2023 cases were registered.
In 2013 there was a record of 522 cases in Culiacán, 520 in Guasave, 306 in Ahome and 264 in Mazatlán, the rest of the cases were reported in other municipalities of Sinaloa, without any exceptions, but with a minimum number of reports. municipality of Choix, which in that year only registered three cases.
Since 2013, the incidence of this crime has registered an upward trend in the entity’s crime statistics. The last five years rose from 2,273 cases in 2017 to 4,705 registered in 2021 and only in the month of January of this 2022, the Attorney General of the State of Sinaloa already registers 398 cases.
Lack of complaints
Given these figures, Dignora Valdez López, an activist and member of the Violetas Ingobernables collective in the north of the state, lamented that there are more and more cases of crimes against women, but in addition, she said, the figures presented by the State Attorney General’s Office do not they are real, since there is a very high number of women who do not report them.
“On many occasions they do not file a complaint due to the lack of trust and support that these types of institutions offer them, not to mention the re-victimization that is done to them in the complaint process, since there are still, in these positions, poorly trained and insensitive personnel with the problems that women face,” she added.
In the same vein, Claudia García Alonzo, president of the Mujeres Apoyarte civil association, questioned what is being done to combat these figures, which are higher every day.
The high numbers of crimes against women registered in a single month, he said, the vast majority could allude to the pandemic, since the context and environment in which they are carried out is normally the family.
“Many women work and must get home and also fulfill their role as housewives, but added to all this, the pandemic also makes them teachers of their children and this causes a lot of stress for them and although it is said that the husband help that is not true, ”explained García Alonzo.
With the motto: “Woman, you are not alone, we support you”, the civil association Mujeres Apoyyou provides legal advice, psychological care, case monitoring and even medical consultations, if necessary.
The president of this nonpartisan, nonprofit association made available to women throughout Sinaloa the telephone number 6681644155, which, she said, is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The gender violencein places like Sinaloa, unfortunately, it is still a very acute problem due to the strong macho culture that predominates in our state, considered Juan Bautista Lizárraga Motta.
The national counselor of the Board of Directors of the Mexican Bar of the AC Bar Association agreed with García Alonzo in pointing out that the statistics increased even more during the confinement due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Likewise, she pointed out that currently more and more women are encouraged to file a complaint for family or gender violence before the authorities. “Before you didn’t even see that, it’s not that there was no violence, but that there were fewer women who were encouraged to go and report or denounce or sue against this type of crime, in addition to the fact that right now there is already a lot more information”.
Pro bono legal support
The lawyer from Sinaloa said that it is increasingly common for women to request support to face this type of problem before the law and for this, Lizárraga Motta made available the Mexican Bar of the AC Bar Association and its foundation to support women already society in general.
“The Mexican Bar of the AC Bar Association has a foundation and one of the main axes of our association is pro bono work to help the community and there we receive many cases of women who have been violated by their partner or even by authorities. ”.
She explained that there are still cases of women who come forward to report violence or any other crime and end up being violated by the authority by treating them differently because they are women.
“They are treated differently because of their gender. It is not always appropriate, it is not judged from a gender perspective based on the particularities that must be addressed with women’s issues, that is also a type of violence that comes from the authorities.
She pointed out that in order to achieve care with a gender perspective, staff training is needed.
He recalled that the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) issued criteria that are mandatory for all courts and tribunals throughout the country, where it speaks of the judge’s obligation to impart justice from a gender perspective.
Formally, from a sentence that situation is addressed, he added, but in daily dealings it is not like that.
“There is also a need for women to complain more, that is, to file complaints against those officials who did not treat them as it should be, because to the extent that this happens, corrective measures will be put in place and this situation must be corrected” .
Law specifications
In contrast, José Luis Polo Palafox, president of the Sinaloa Federation of Lawyers (Fedasin), said that around 80 percent of criminal statistics have to do with the crime of family violence, where on many occasions even a bad word They file a complaint with the Public Ministry, because the law allows it, and that is why the statistics rise.
Polo Palafox pointed out that once these cases are prosecuted, they end up being settled in reparation agreements and almost always due to economic situations.

When the crime is due to intentional injuries, he pointed out, there is already a greater justification. “I condemn and condemn aggression against any woman and even more so when they are injuries that cause damage to the physical integrity of women, who are a very important pillar for society. In such cases, the full weight of the law must be applied.
