We'll probably have to wait a long time before we can play the next one Falloutbut we can make up for it with the live action series arriving next month in Amazon's Prime Video catalogue, given that according to Jonathan Nolan it could be considered in all respects a sort of Fallout 5.
In an interview with Total Film, the producer explained that the TV series will tell a new story in its own right and in his opinion it can be considered as a new non-interactive chapter in the series.
“In my career, Fallout is closest to the work we did on the Batman adaptation (where Jonathan worked alongside his brother Christopher Nolan, ed.), where there is so much storytelling in the Batman universe that there is no version rectory, so you are free to invent your own.”
“Each of the games is a standalone story – different city, different protagonist – within the same mythology. Our series is about how the games relate to each other. It's almost like Fallout 5. I don't want to sound pretentious, but isn't this like a non-interactive version of it?”
Nolan's are certainly statements of a certain importance and which do nothing but raise the bar of fans' expectations. To find out if the Amazon Fallout series will make its way into their hearts we will have to wait just over a month: the debut on Prime Video is set for April 12, 2024.
Set in Los Angeles, 219 years after the explosion of nuclear warheads during the great war that almost led to the extinction of the human race, the story of the live action series will follow the events of three protagonists with very different origins.
Lucy (Ella Purnell) has lived all her life in one of Vault-Tech's Vaults and will have to learn to survive in a post-apocalyptic world of mutant monsters and a society in disarray; Maximus (Aaron Moten) on the other hand is a soldier who grew up following the dogmas of the Brotherhood of Steel; the third protagonist is a sinister mutant bounty hunter known as “The Ghoul” driven by his own code of honor and prone to violence.
