A collapse that took place on Sunday (26) of part of a grandstand in a bullring in the city of El Espinal, in central Colombia, left at least four dead and dozens injured, according to preliminary information from local authorities.

The governor of the province of Tolima, Ricardo Orozco, told the station “Blu Radio” that one of the victims is a minor, in addition to two women and an adult man. “I deeply regret what happened in our bullring, Gilberto Charry. I want to ask the population that is in the bullring to leave, as the control bodies are already attending to the emergency and have taken the injured to hospitals”, he said, in turn. , the mayor of El Espinal, Carlos Tamayo.

Several videos were posted on social media, showing the collapse of part of the wooden bleachers, which received a large audience. The president-elect of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, spoke about the tragedy in a message posted on Twitter. “I hope that all the people affected by the collapse of the El Espinal square can recover from their injuries,” said Iván Duque’s future successor. “This had already happened before in Sincelejo (capital of the province of Sucre). I ask the municipalities not to authorize shows with the death of people or animals”, completed Petro, who will take office on August 7.
