MotoGP is ready to face the weekend of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix scheduled at Misano this weekend, but in the meantime it has welcomed the news concerning a mechanic belonging to one of the largest teams involved in the world: this person, whose identity and the team he works for is unknown for obvious reasons of privacy, was in fact suspended from her post until the end of this season to have falsified the results of the swabs for Covid-19. As reported by the newspaper The-Race.com on the occasion of one of the last races on the calendar, the latter was caught red-handed while irregularly modifying the certificate, with which he would have had access to the paddock.
Once the fact was ascertained, the IRTA thus expelled the mechanic, with the latter being unable to return to work until the end of the championship. As it has been known for some months now, pilots and professionals must undergo a swab check before each event: in the event of a positive outcome, they cannot participate in the race weekend, undergoing a quarantine period. Interviewed on the matter that recently emerged, the President of the IRTA Mike Trimby expressed all his disappointment at what happened: “We are disappointed to have learned that he is a mechanic from a top-tier team – commented – presented a negative result of the swab from the Quiron Prevenction laboratory, moreover with a clumsy modification compared to the previous finding “.
“We take these aspects very seriously. We make great efforts to ensure a safe condition for public health inside the paddock, creating a safe environment for workers and participants. This person’s pass has been revoked, and they will not be entitled to reuse it until further notice. The sanction will continue at least until the end of 2021 ″. In addition to the certainly disrespectful and irresponsible gesture towards colleagues, the “cunning” is also a slap in the face of the considerable expenses that the teams invest to ensure the carrying out of health checks, with the prices of each tampon varying from 80 to 150 euros. Only the SIC58 team, engaged in Moto3 and in the CEV category, spent around 70,000 euros to allow its staff to remain constantly under control.
