“Commerce and industry are mere branches of agriculture. It is this that supplies them and that pays both.” -François Quesnay
¡Citizens of Sinaloa!
Today I address my readers with a urgent call to the solidarity and the justice. In just a few days, our brave agricultural producers will meet again in one manifestation in front of government palace. What is your goal? Simple but crucial: the Immediate payment and the fair price guarantee for the crops of grain.
These men and women, who with sweat and effort have worked our land and have positioned our great state as a leader of food production At a global level, they face a desperate situation. Their crops, the fruit of months of hard work, face the risk of being undervalued, a product of the government's willful omission to respect their place in the country's economic reality.
The agriculture is the backbone of our economy, the very soul of our land, the identity of our state. However, our farmers face increasingly difficult obstacles: high production costs, fluctuations in market prices and, most worryingly, the destruction of many financing and marketing programs, and now, the lack of the government in meeting its obligation to release the payments to which our producers are entitled from the agreements reached during last year's struggle.
Can we remain indifferent to this injustice? Can we close our eyes to the difficulties faced by those who feed us, who care for our land with love and dedication? We can't allow it. It is time for us to come together in solidarity with our agricultural producers. It is time for us to demand together the respect they deserve. Next Monday, April 15, at 8:00 am, the Government Palace will witness the strength of the spirit of our producers and the citizens who support them in solidarity.
I urge each and every one of you to join this noble and urgent cause. Our farmers are not alone in this fight. Together, we can make your voices heard. Together, we can ensure a prosperous future for our land and for generations to come. See you on Monday, in defense of our agricultural producers, in defense of Sinaloa!
