The program, which will replace Bolsa Família, should start to be paid as early as November and was the president’s great trump card for a revival of the economy with a view to the 2022 election. He intends to pay R$400 per month to 17 million families .
However, the aid has always been the target of criticism within the government, especially from Economy Minister Paulo Guedes and his surroundings, who were reluctant to get the money for the project to get off the ground without breaking the spending ceiling.
The Office of the Ministry of Citizenship announced in a note that the event was canceled and did not provide further information.
The presidents of the Senate and Chamber Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) and Arthur Lira (PP-AL), respectively, were expected at the ceremony.
According to his official agenda, Economy Minister Paulo Guedes had a meeting to discuss the Investment Partnership Program at Palácio do Planalto from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
